For anyone wondering what the 2nd sword is for,it is used for boss executions. Why?... I think it has some relation with the old monk that made us our prosthetic arm. It also has blood smeared on it So...... *Go Chikage*

I think sekiro's story is very similar to the anime called sword of the stranger. In that as well the young prince has special blood and enlists help of a samurai to keep him safe. If anyone is reading do watch the movie. It's very similar.

How? it only affects you if you get hit, or if and enemy blocks/counters your attack. Stamina affected everything you did.

Is more like a mix between poise and a reverse stamina system.

I think From and Team Ninja had an agreement to make this game and Nioh maybe. I mean Ninja make a Soulslike/Gaiden crossover, and then From do the same. I mean I guess it could be a tip of the hat back in the direction of ninja Gaiden because they liked Nioh?

No, because it's not like Dark Souls or Bloodborne. It's more like Tenchu/Nioh. Souls-lite would fit best, because IT DOES have souls elements, but far less than other souls like games

I honestly started out Meh on this game, but once it became clear it's more a third person action game then a souls like ARPG I grown more hyped ^^

Please stop telling me that RPG's most important feature is leveling up and Stats. It's not. RPGs are about storytelling and choices, that have major influences on how the world around you relates to you. Stat and leveling up is game play mechanics. Soulsborne isn't Rpg. It never was. It's SPG - Stats playing game. Come on. It's not hard.

As great as it looks, I still don't trust Activision-Blizzard for one microsecond. I'm not putting any money down on this until I read at least 10 day 1 reviews that confirm there are no microtransactions/loot boxes/pay to win/triple A mechanics. If there are, I know they wouldn't dare put any of that shit in the press demo. I will not get hyped. Activision-Blizzard is *the* loot box cretin. I will put the torch to their headquarters myself if they dare defile Sekiro.

This game looks fucking awsome, can´t wait to get it between my sweaty fingers ;-) The fight system reminds me a bit of a mix from Ninja Gaiden 2 and Dark Souls. hmm, but i wish they´ll limit the resurrection to the max of 1. But after it was possible to use it at least 3 times, according to you, i don´t think they will go back to 1 resurrection. Further it was a bit awkward that the enemy doesn´t get it when you resurrect and you can backstab them. I know i sound a bit mocky but for me this isn´t a Souls Game anymore, BUT it would be boring if an ancient Samurai would be slow as fuck :-) It fits better to the theme that the fight system is very fast. And btw i think.....no i believe Darksouls will return :-) Greetings from Germany

I wouldn't say it's more complex than dark souls, just different. Dark Souls was about choice. Choosing the right equipment, choosing the right strategy, and choosing when to attack. You have a lot of quick strategic decisions to make in reaction to what your enemy does. It's relatively slow and methodical, but punishingly difficult if you don't make the right "choices". It's about learning the system, and choosing the right play style for you. That's not in Sekiro. In sekiro, the playstyle is chosen for you. You don't have to choose when is a right or wrong time to attack, you don't have to choose when to take action or save the stamina. Yes there's choices like positioning, but it's different than dark souls. It's now a game about speed and reflexes. It's about reaction time and perception. When you think about it, it's really not a Souls game at all. It might have attacking and dodging, but that's it. It's totally separate, and that's super exciting. Dark Souls is chess played without a timer, with slow moves desperately thought over and considered. Sekiro is chess played with a timer. You already know the moves, you just have to make them, and make better ones, than your opponent.

Ok but am I the only one who thinks that grab was complete bullshit? The wind up was so short he had almost no time to dodge that. I’m not stupid I get attacks are quick but you have to admit that was a pretty short window. Idk I wouldn’t consider it fair but you can always not get greedy

Was quite some time ago so might not be 100% accurate but my first soulsgame was Bloodborne and I absolutely loved it. When I picked up DS3 I felt like I needed to approach a more defensive style to be able to progress. From what I see from this including other gameplays is that it looks like you need to be even more aggressive and faster than in Bloodborne and when you explain the different mechanics that the game offers makes me really excited about how it feels to play. Also, thanks alot VaatiVidya for making this video.

I look forward to watching someone far more skilled and patient than myself play this game. XD

I have so much hope in me that theres like a special skill or prostetic skill for dual wielding. Cause if u look at the footage he has a second katana on his back. He did not have that on in the trailer. So whats the point of it if u cant use it....

Looks way too floaty-jumpy-hookshoty for my taste. Like a bastard child of (the aweful) assassins creed series and a soulsborne game. I'd rather have Bloodborne 2 or Dark Souls 4. But I'll just hope it adds up to a good Tenchu-esque experience and is just good in a different way than the old formula. Time will tell.

I feel exactly what you re saying. I ve heard that no one managed to kill the boss of this demo on Gamescom. I got to it and hat a good fight but then time was over and the didnt let me try to finish it. ;( It was such a great experience, can't wait for more!

The Ninja game that I've been waiting for in PS4. Looks promising with a lot of potential to succeed Tenchu series. Hopefully this will be a successful stealth action (classic ninja style) game genre.

I just really hope they fix the jumping/aerial animations before the final game. They look a little stiff and janky in this demo

Sekiro looks awesome though i worry the use of jumping/grappling hook will be spammed (like r1 in ds3) and in some respects be a nioh clone. Also, with its new combat and gameplay mechanics, I feel that one wouldn’t ever want to return to playing a dark souls game again let alone From developing one. Similar to with bloodborne it sorta spoiled dark souls with its awesome combat , but sekiro might spoil it even more. I still will buy this and play it like crazy as I have with all souls game. Great vid!
