There's zero chance the piano piece is only coincidental. It defies general music theory to leave out half notes. It literally flies in the face of established chords. It's a really neat touch, and HAD to have been thought out and worked around to avoid harmonic dissonance or destructive interference of certain notes clashing. Not so terrible to work around in arpeggio pieces, but in chord heavy sets like THAT...it took some work.

It probably was a conscious decision for the composer but its also the key of C major and that doesn't have any chromatic keys or black keys.

I speculate that by defeating Queen Yharnam and bringing the stone to the priest, you may have gotten an alternate ending with the Orphan of Kos. Maybe you wouldn’t fight it, or something....

The chalice dungeons were the coolest part of bloodborne and I'm honestly disappointed that they didn't release something similar in DS3

Just to give credit, the audiobook "The complete works of H.P. Lovecraft " is actually narrated by two people, these being Andrew Leman and Sean Branney the heads of the H.P Lovecraft historical society. I love the the work they put into this and just wanted both to get the credit they deserve.

While the Lovecraft Mountains of Madness story probably did inspire the chalice dungeons, I’d point you towards the work of Clark Ashton Smith for another source of inspiration. Specifically, the story “The Vaults of Yoh Vombis” is about tomb prospectors on Mars that uncover a horrible secret in an ancient catacomb built by ancient Martians. (Spoilers Ahead for a story about 95 years old.) The catacombs were abandoned intentionally as a last ditch effort to seal a deadly brain sucking parasite. Oddly enough, the story reads exactly like your lore videos, Vaati. A group of human archaeologists and a Martian scout traverse the ruins, studying carvings, glyphs, and paintings as they go. They notice certain carvings that frequently depict the Ancient Martians wearing an unusual hat. The story on the walls appears to show the Martians meeting the one wearing the hat, attacking him, torturing him, then trapping him in the vaults. The archaeologists don’t understand what the carvings are actually showing until they are attacked. The “hat” is actually a brain sucking parasite that covers the head of its host. When attached, the parasite controls its victims while dissolving their skull and eating their brains. All of the parasites were sealed in the vaults except one. It lands on a guy and uses him to break into the vaults, setting thousands of parasites loose. The end of the story is incredibly bleak. They probably found inspiration in other ideas from his stories, too.

It wouldn't have been hard to write gwyns song using all the white keys, but it is a very deliberate opinion. A minor (the key of gwyns song) has no sharps or flats, so it is all white keys. Still a very cool attention to detail.

For me, my favorite audio book (though your taste in narrator may vary) is William Gibson's *Burning Chrome* anthology - The stories are fantastic, in my honest opinion.

I'm probably apart of the 2% of souls fans that just doesnt like the theme pr lore of Bloodborne. The only aspect of BB that I like is the gameplay, and and the final boss of the base game's attack voicelines. "Sweeiiigghhh"

Having only white keys on a piano for Gwyn’s theme is probably because it was written in C major or its relative minor A minor. The key of A minor is notable in music because some musicians state that it’s the “saddest” key. For more knowledge, the black keys specifically show the sharps and flats, so A minor has no accidents. Of course, not all musicians know music theory. If your favorite band is from a garage or your dad’s age, they probably couldn’t read sheet music for a good while and just played what sounds good.

With equal temperament the composer could put the theme in any key they wanted, but most likely its all natural just to be in a simple to perform key: a minor

They chose A natural minor for gwyn's theme. The minor key always has a sense of melancholy, but the key of A natural minor, in specific, in fact doesnt have any black keys on the piano, since it has no sharps or flats in the key.

I'm a musician. So, about Gwyn's theme. It is in the key of A minor which basically uses all white keys. Of course normally you'd use all the notes you want, everything is possible, but you can 100% compose strictly to those notes and be interesting in a minor tonality. It is not hard and it's also basic knowledge to musicians/composers of all levels. Having said that, I absolutely love it, and I also respect the artistic choice. So, it may have indeed been a choice made by the composer and game director to reenforce the concept of Gwyn and light. It's actually very likely. Hope I explained it fairly.

Gwyn's Theme is written in A minor, which like you've mentioned uses only the white keys. It makes use of odd note relationships (like tritones, which were commonly associated with death in medieval times) that sound tense and build up this eerie, cramped feeling while also feeling melancholy with the slow melody. Composing with just the white keys isn't necessarily a challenge, but it depends on what direction you take with your melody, and the song's melody fits nicely into the key, outlining the first chord in the scale (A minor, which is comprised of the notes A, C and E). I feel like almost every aspect of the song is intentional and it really shows the weight Gwyn has on the story.

I staggered gael with the cathedral knight greatsword. I thought everyone could stagger him but I guess cause that sword is mainly swung vertically downward it hits his head.

Both the ionian mode (now C major) and the aeolian mode (now A minor) can be played using only the white keys of the piano. Considering that the one has a "brighter" and "happier" feeling and the other has a more "dark" and "sad" one, a composer can use both those contrasting elements to create great musical pieces. The real problem rises with the stagnation of only using a single mode or scale, as well as not being able to use A minor's leading note (G sharp), but it's not the first time someone composed a great piece by severely limiting themselves; it can be done and it was done beautifully.

Gwyns theme being only played with white keys could simply mean that the piece is in A minor, but then again, it could' ve been written in another key and then transposed to A minor by design, exactly to fit this connection

Gwyn's theme song ain't played by only white keys, it has black keys aswell, BUT, you can play it only using white keys, you only need to do a bit more effort to hit them

When gywns theme is played in that way on only white keys is that the same pitch as the original... I'm not sure but would it be possible to retune many songs into different keys so that they are only on white piano keys?

My guess would that since sekiro never got dlc we wont find an allusion to elden ring, but Chester and yamamura were introduced into the series via the games dlc (abyss dlc in dark souls one for Chester and the old hunters dlc for yamamura) I hope I'm wrong cause I would love for sekiro to have some more hidden gems waiting to be found though chances are slim due to the immediate rage the game received for being to different from the soulbourne formula that they had to call it "to difficult" to save face

one thing i thought of is that the name "elden ring", can if you switch the letters around be read as " eld ringen" which in swedish translates to "the fire ring" and in darksouls the dark sign is a ring of fire

The first time I played Dark Souls 1 to completion, I heard about how hard Gwyn was to parry, and to this day I regret defeating him on my first try entirely through parrying him perfectly three times. I never got to experience the sheer melancholy of this sad character through the music.
