I have a feeling this might end up on PC eventually. They had PC included in the original trailer then removed it (probably so the PS5 release didnt lose steam), and Sony just announced more Sony exclusives in the future are coming to PC. I hope it does anyways, I'm done with consoles and wont buy another one. I do love this game, own it and beat it on PS3. If it doesn't I guess Im waiting for DS4 as I replay DS1 2 and 3. Bloodborne Ive also beat twice but I'm not too big on that one, its ok but I prefer the settings of the other games.

I remember picking up this game on sale for $15 bucks years ago, before Dark Souls was a thing. I saw it on the shelf, not knowing much about it. Because of the price, I quickly googled to see what it was like and figured hey, for this price I'll try it out. Loved it IMMEDIATELY. It just took you into a such dark and gloomy world in an incredibly immersive way. I still own the original for PS3 and I can't wait for the remake!

Look at the characters posture in the remake and original. in the new one you look much more powerful and heroic and one of the main game design philosophies is to make you feel weak and frail so that when you finally surmount the impossible odds you feel that much better. i feel like they are trying to make the player feel badass instead of weak. this overlook might be pretty detrimental.

@Sir Galahad I for one do not wish to see Cross-Play with PC, since getting banned because someone forced a modified weapon into my inventory is super annoying to deal with. It's rare but if it's Cross-Play then it'll happen commonly.

We know from the new trailer that the 6th archstone is still broken but my guess is that they put the snowy sequence because we probably gonna be able to play the Northern Limits world as a dlc. I'm not sure though if Bluepoint Games have the rights to make a dlc for a game that didn't had one originally but if they do, i bet that's what they'll do.

Im really tired of the mentality of "new players", we were all new players at one point in time. World tendency only went towards black if you died in human form, not phantom form. I think what made Demon's Souls special is the smaller community at the time. Not blown up like the dark souls series is.

@Toirdealbach Bartoium of course Demons souls had a smaller community cause it was ps3 only. And to answer your question, lets saw the world tendency is directly connected to everyone playing since we all connected to the psn/demons souls server. So if players keep dying in human form, the server would take the total of deaths/negative actions(examples: players invading and killing other players or killing npcs) vs the positive actions (examples: helping others defeat demons and total demons killed) then it would shift everyones tendency 1 point left or right depending upon the actions of the community.

I really don't understand how the community influences gameplay mechanics, which are the things that are actually important. And it's not like DeS had a "smaller" community by any means, as although it had a rough start, it became very popular.

yoda on crack because they completely ditch the gothic, lovecraft-ian aesthetic. Because rather than telling you about the story and lore through the details of the environment, they have added details that are instead inconsistent with the surrounding story (why if the vanguard covered in blood? Vaat basically says all of this btw, he’s just nicer about it.) I hate this term “smooth combat.” Demon’s Souls combat was very smooth. You just move slow. You play a relatively slow moving human. It’s a game built to punish buttonmashing plebes. It also didn’t have all of this ridiculous motion blur - in fact it didn’t have any. In short, they remade a souls game in the style of a “typical” Japanese ARPG. I will bet everything I have the NPC’s look like they belong in Final Fantasy, not the Soulsverse. The original is on PS3 and it still looks better. Quite frankly I don’t see how anyone who loved that game enough to beat it could possibly think the remake doesn’t look like garbage. Especially those of us that believe it still had the best world and level design of any entry in the ‘series.’

I would rather Kings Field 1-3 get redone. I first played Demons last year in the middle of playing Dark 1. It was so damn solid I paused Dark to complete it fully.

When you mention mood and atmosphere not being the same I think that the changes will be highlight with these improvements. Think of as brighter brights and darker darks. Which will definitely add a greater range to the mood/feel.

This atmosphere argument is just stupid. The lighting and shadow change will effect everything in the game. The PS3 game is just static ambient light, that lights up things for no reason, and fails to make things dark when they are supposed to be. The modern lighting system will now light up things in direct light much brighter but any area in shadow will be much darker. Those scary hallways will be scarier... the dimly light pathways will be dimly light instead of awkwardly glowing. Doorways and windows will be a source of light instead of just geometry. Yes, this is going to affect the game's look greatly, in the old game nothing is light or shadowed correctly. It's going to enhance the atmosphere of every location but it's not going to look like the old error filled old locations exactly. You know this reminds me of Classic World of Warcraft. People were upset about the look of places like elwyn forest, darkshore, and feralas. What were they angry about? the change in atmosphere. Not a single thing was changed except shadows were added to the game. With trees now casting shadows on the ground and themselves it made the locations seem darker. The original game with no shadows on the trees, looks like a very bright forest... because it completely lacks shadows on most things. If you want to improve a game then this is a completely unfixable problem caused by poor tech from the past

The areas looks significantly better, very old, nature taken and well... Ruined. Back on PS3, this looked simply battered but new. Nothing looked completely destroyed apart from ceilings and shoddy wooden areas. Hell, im sure if you went to the city to the right of the Drake's bridge, it would of probably been abandoned but normal. In the remake it would of been significantly ruined, rummaged and... Well, empty. I cannot wait to get this game again and see every new detail, slashing through actual human-looking enemies, not low poly, cardboard looking soldiers. Also as for new content, change it to likely. Shadow of Colossus had a new weapon onto their item list. I won't say what, but it was a new item.

I've played and loved DS1, DS3 (Apart from last boss as I lost my save) and Bloodborne. I've never played Demon's Souls and i'm trying to force myself not to watch a playthrough so I can experience it fresh on Ps5 😁 So hyped for this hopefully it's close to the console launch!

I prefer the epherial, grimm, cloudy, foreboding, foreshadowing, eerie and oppressive atmosphere.

They could have made at least the remake multi-platform, and I would have gladly bought it instead of having to foreseeably run a pirate/emulated version. There, I said it. Atmosphere is one of the strongest points of Souls games. Remake looks like it's made by complete randoms that can't grasp the feeling of the game. The tech maybe good but Souls games never attracted anyone with pristine visuals. This will be a bitter game for true Souls fans. I really wanna see animation about all FS games. We already have: Dark Sauce for DS1 Happy Souls for DS2 God Mode - Bloodborne for BB Sekirot for SEKIRO And with remake we can get good DeS animation, still waiting for good ds3 animated video tho. Dork Souls is fine~ it looks good, but jokes are very not related to ds3 and (imo) they're not as funny as in other animations.

Them taking out world tendency would be a HUGE disappointment. So what if the game got harder the more you died? The game wasn't meant to be easy. Learn, adapt, and play better and you'll overcome it. Taking out world tendencies would be one of the worst things they could do to this game. Would make it unrecognizable. I understand streamlining it and making it not so buggy, but don't take it out and don't make it easier on the player.

Why does everyone focus on Tower Knight? Literally every other scene is darker and arguably more oppressive. How is thinking they aren't keeping the atmosphere even a thing? Use the 20 other examples of them keeping the atmosphere instead of the 1 where it happens to be a little brighter lol...

No longer is it awkwardly light up by some static glow, but now by actual light. Yes it's brighter in the open but all the hallways around the castle will be darker light by windows/doorways and filled with shadows... instead of a uniform ambient glow that's not coming from anything. I think that enhances the atmosphere especially in the darker area's. Even the changes with the added color from the banners isn't that weird. All the hallways leading up to that room are lined with the blue banners. Never made sense why the boss room was so empty, unless it was a technical limitation due to all the archers and the boss in such a large room. It now fits the location better than the original did because it doesn't have an art style shift after walking through the fog wall. In this video he even has footage of the castle at 7:30 lined with the banners on every single wall.

I prefer the original colors. The more “depressed” feeling. I don’t want it heroic and grand.
