Actually, Roberto is the Portuguese name for Robert. So the Armoured Knight did cry out the name correctly given he is most possibly a Portuguese given the time and circumstances.

Giant Dad reference. Huge sword he two hands. Cool looking mask that covers his whole head. Impenetrable armour that he still manages to move in. Constantly regenerating stamina to attack us over and over. Had an abundance of an incredibly useful fire like item that he never put to use. A father of a son we never see. Well played, Fromsoft. Everything surrounding Senpou Temple is just sad, in my opinion the most heartbreaking area of the entire game. The armored knight just wanted to save his son, so blinded by desperation he would never realized he delivered him to a much crueler fate. His son was more than likely dead already by the time Wolf reached that bridge.

I just realised that he and his son were the people who made the Firecrackers.

I didn't play Sekiro. If this armored knight is europeon, why is his mask and back helmet japanese?

Most likely because he didn’t have armour in the first place so he got Japanese armour

European plate armour wasn’t cumbersome. If crafted well it would allow a huge range of movement and have its weight evenly spread on your body

I hate to break it to you but plate is not cumbersome actually most full plate would be just as flexible as any armor of the sengoku era which is kind of something that's always been misinterpreted but plate armor is not inflexibly tanky it's extremely flexible

No complex dialogue, no fancy cutscene or CGI, just 2 lines and 1 word were enough to make this character very memorable and spark the interest of players.

When I first encounter the armoured Knight and had mentioned how he was fighting for his son I felt bad I enjoyed the clashing of wills but I felt cold when I kicked him off the ledge and he screamed his sons name. The same name described some firecrackers I picked up early in the game and my blood ran a bit cold when I realized the connection and what I had just done.

The tantrum rage that he gets half way into the fight suggests that he knows the truth at the very least on a subconscious level. That is the true crack in his armor.

About what you say around minute 1:02 ; European full plate was not really cumbersome, Japanese armor copied from full plate called o-yoroi was of lower weight, but not much (because it had fewer pieces). Also a lot of armors in Sekiro look more like older lamellar armor than o-yoroi. EDIT: the japanese armor is not o-yoroi, i got confused

alright, listening the Armored knight's lore and listening to his scream made me depressed, holy shit.

There are honestly times I'd rather take a MGS-style plot exposition over "there's hours of lore behind this one guy who does nothing but ambush you on a bridge for apparently no reason, but why should we tell you?"

This is a really good one. Armored Knight was one of my favorite fights in the game. Really dramatic, really unique

We don't get to see Robert, but it's likely he was one of the many children who died in sacrifice for the creation of the Divine Child. A merchant in the Ashina Outskirts has the firecrackers because the Armored Knight sold them omn the way to Senpou

Misconception. Plate at that time was everything but cumbersome. Only later jousting armors were cumbersome.
