It's so sad. Isshin doesn't strike me as a bad guy ever, sometimes misguided and a too proud but overall they pose him as a good leader. I feel like it would have been in character to take the Sculptor in after time had passed, he could have maybe put him on a path where he didn't go shura despite losing the arm. Also I wonder if his final fall into shura was brought on by him giving up his mechanical arm (which he may have used in carving, either way it makes it more difficult) which would become frustrating and less meditative allowing his hatred to return. edit: "The dead, will rise like mountains, the heat will become an inferno, it will give birth to a demon I am sure of it." Thats something you can take two ways if you tie this through the whole soulsborne series. Old lady fears the return of the old one.

yeah...seeing the body counts a fair number of other people accumulate but somehow you're the only one aside from the Sculptor that can turn into Shura? I'm not buying it. The "for Ashina" cause only goes so far when you see crap like Genichiro literally pulling his recently deceased grandfather back from the afterlife just to kill you. And that isn't counting the bandits that massacre for pleasure and coin. How have none of them fallen to Shura? Maybe it's a different type of corruption than the infested immortality of the monks and fountainhead residents? Either way it's a bit sketchy to me why only Wolf and the Sculptor ran/run the risk of falling to Shura despite many others having an even higher body count than either of them As for Shura vs Demon of Hatred-the demon seems to be a seething raging killer who has lost most/all of his reasoning, while Sekiro as Shura seems to have maintained his sanity while being a cold killer who isn't berserk or feral.

@Luis Angel It probably does, but if it's just killing for the sake of killing or getting stronger or just killing countless people, then Isshin should have turned into a Shura a long time ago since multiple places indicate he was a madman who was addicted to fighting and killing when he was younger. Actually addicted to fighting and mad with bloodlust, not just challenging everyone who was around that was stronger than him

The sculptor's lore really hits me in the feels. A kind, compassionate man trying his best to be a good person while also being conflicted by his dark thoughts and inner demons and trying to keep them in check. I can relate to that so much.

Oh man. I was wondering why the TELL ME YOUR NAME subs were so off when he clearly doesn't repeat anything. I guess they made the English subs after they recorded the dubs. So glad I never bothered with an English playthrough. Those first two scenes were painfully hard to listen through.

I took the Shura ending first. I didn't even realize that it was a bad ending. I just was asked by my dad to listen to his words, and agreed. Like, earlier in the game, you have the option to either follow the iron code or not do that. And you are forced to follow the code. It's perfectly reasonable to remain locked into the code now, the code that you've been following all along. And yet, it's the bad ending, and you're a demon for following it. Psh. Absolutely disgraceful.

Well, Owl's upbringing of Wolf turned him into a mindless, obedient machine. He knew nothing of morality or even himself, only that "the parent is absolute". Owl is not a good person but the Iron Code and Wolf's mindless obedience prevent him or you from realising that early on. That's the thing, though; over the course of the game, Wolf develops autonomy through his relationship with Kuro and others. By time Owl comes back into the picture, Wolf has developed enough to act outside of the abusive code he was raised under in favour of what he thinks is right. It's said by offering Isshin the Monkey Booze that Wolf had the potential to become Shura, a demon who lived for nothing but the joy of killing. The last act of his before becoming Shura, slaughtering the few he finally grew attached to, released any moral anchors he had and was the last push he needed into becoming Shura.

I didn't pay much attention to the lore but basically you have to kill the man who saved you (which granted could be considered a mercy kill) and the man who created the left arm you use.

The DoH isn’t Shura though, it’s failed shura. People become a demon when they can’t fully become shura. Because of the sculpture lack of left arm he could not be shura.

I apologise if I am asking a silly question; but why does the Sculptor say that Isshin cut off his arm and say that it was because he was on the brink of corruption and also mention his history with the Sunken Valley? We know, from the true ending, that the Sculptor is Sekiro himself. So why make that story up? and if it's not made up, is he a different Sculptor to the one we see in the true ending? His presence doesn't really make sense unless he is a different character (if you choose other endings)

I noticed that in the shura ending, in the cinematic, after u kill Emma, Sekiro is prone to smile. His grumpiness and not smilling attitude is a recurrent theme in the game so i find it pretty mysterious that in the bad ending is the only place where you are going to see Wolf (almost) smile.

Love everything about sekiro finally beat it after a long break because the guardian ape gave me a head ache so i stopped for a couple months and man this game truly is a masterpiece

You know it's kinda appropriate how the parental figures of Wolf are titled animals too. Orangutan and Owl, the Kind Monkey and the Cunning Owl. The Wolf could either become reminded that a wolf is strong in a pack(Monkeys and Orangutans live in groups) or to become the loner who ends up losing self(Owls are solitary birds usually).
