Did the world ever function in a way similar to our own? Because a lot of the ruined architecture in Dark Souls 1 seems to suggest that it did. Yet you never see anyone do anything besides fight, kindle or guard specific areas.

The view from Orphan of Kos’ battle field is the view looking “down” at dark souls. That hole in sky sure looks ruptured. Come at me with something else.

I have another question that I still don't understand even tho I watched most of your videos about darksoul. We (as a player) start the game at the end of the fire era, but what was it like before? Was it a peaceful country / city, with prosperous markets etc? Or was it always like "this" but with more hollows? It's very hard to understand the lineage things - like Lothric's princes, what's the goal of having the "perfect ruler", to rule what?

It's stated that the chosen undead is the descendant of the pygmy and is supposed to bring about the age of dark (man). This is further proven imo with the endings. If you ignite the fire you just catch fire and that's it. When you bring about darkness you walk out of the kiln, you are greeted by the primordial serpents who name you the new lord. It explains why everyone is trying to kill you. They've all been manipulated into thinking you're doing something wrong and they MUST stop you.

I just beat Dark Souls for the first time (Dark Lord ending.) I started a new playthrough with a different character instantly. I loved Bloodborne and Sekiro and I'm super excited to finally get into this series for all the lore it has.

Is if sad, strange, or understandable that the souls universe is actually more hopeful than the real world? Let me try to answer as well as possible. I know more about the lore from DS3 and Bloodborne, but I'm not too unfamiliar with DS1. 1) As far as I understand Seath was born without scales, which made him jealous of the other dragons. He studied crystal magic to 'compansate' so to speak. Why didn't he have scales? Who knows, it just is. I believe dragons weren't truly immortal, but after a very very long life get reborn from the archtrees. Maybe someone else could give a better answer for this. 2) Not all dragons died in the war, and Khalameet is indeed one of the few Archdrakes still alive. They were almost all eradicated however. Most survivors went into hiding at some point. 3) The red dragon is called the Hellkite drzgon, but isn't really a dragon. It's actually a drake, somewhat distant kin of dragons and lesser in terms of strength. Think about the difference like the one between monkeys and apes. Both groups are primates, but they're very different. The gaping dragon is either a decendant of dragons, or an ancient dragon undergone horrible transformations as consequence of it's hunger and living location. Seath apparently has taking interest in him/her, as we know from the presence of the channeler near his arena. This means it's not impossible the gaping dragon is the product of an experiment conducted by Seath on a dragon. It's up to you to decide which of these (or another) is the most likely explanation. If anyone else sees a mistake in what I've written, feel free to correct me.

One thing I don’t understand, why did they challenge the everlasting dragons? Were they attacking or harassing them or did Gwyn just get a hard on for genocide?

Imagine you being Gwyn for a moment. Your entire existence you were a weak shriveled husk living underground. Suddenly, you and a couple others become the most powerful creatures in existence. With such power, why should you not create a kingdom so powerful that it shall never be matched in glory? There's only one problem. All the land is ruled by very powerful dragons. They are probably not cool with you suddenly claiming ownership of it, or even a large portion of it. So you do what any other self-proclaimed god would do, you try to take the land by force. Of course, you and the few others that have gotten their power are easily more powerful than dragons, but the dragons outnumber you. You need an army. So you all give a little bit of strength to the many remaining husks. You have an army now, as well as a people for your kingdom (what good and fun is an empty kingdom, right?). You kill the dragons, burn their trees and take their lands. Mission accomplished. Tldr: Gwyn and the other lords are strong. They want fancy and spacious living areas suited for beings as strong as them. The dragons don't want to just give most of their land to a bunch of self-proclaimed gods, so war is the solution.

What is dispair / disparity

My favourite piece of icon design is the fact that the "white souls" the regular ones, are simply the white part around the black of the humanity. The more powerful a being is, the more of this white stuff they accumulate. Now look at one of the most powerful undead we know of: Gael. His souls is so much white accumulated that it was able to form a humanity again. Look at the icon for his soul. It's a bunch if white surrounding what very clearly looks like humanity. This could be the reason everyone wants these white souls, so that when they have enough of them, they can be human again.

So if everyone is immortal why doesn't Solaire come back to life 😢

Depending on if you killed that parasite thing in Izalith, Solaire hollows. The mortality/immortality of a hollow is rather unclear, but if he were to come back he would still be a hollow and continue to lose the very last bits of personality that were still in them. How tragic it might be, once you're a hollow a permanent death is the best gift you can receive.

What better to create a vast colorless fog than an entire wasteland of ashes? Such as that in the end of the Ringed City DLC spanning multiple kingdoms of land. In a way, darkness faded into mere blood and the fire faded and was seemingly extinguished in one of the endings. It's a perfect setup for a "rocky universe" where no light or darkness exists. Disparity fades with the ashes of the old world. We've come to a point where sane hollows exist. It wouldn't be another Dark Souls game that would be developed. It would be something much different. - It was confirmed that From Soft won't be making another Dark Souls game but then again we are left with the same sparks of the beginning of DS1. We don't have a Lord of Cinder anymore. We have a Lord of Hollows. Lord of Darkness. Lord of humanity. Unless the story of Dark Souls was about humanity's struggle and eventual triumph over the Ancient Lords & their gambit then Dark Souls truly ended.

GUYS I HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE HELP ME Why were the gods afraid of the fire fading? There is the sun in the dark souls universe so theoretically Darkness can never rule the world. Also are the lands of Dark soul all in a planet or is it something else entirely that they do not follow the rules of our universe. Would it be fair to say that the planet that dark souls takes place is in another solar system that earth is? What did the gods of Dark souls think about what was beyond their planet, or how they could use the power of the sun to fuel the flame instead of souls... Did Solaire actually find the solution for peace? To use the power of the sun? Was he a mad science in a place full of people who didn’t want to change their minds?

To answer your first question, the Fire gave them life and power (through the Lord Souls), they're terrified to see it fade and lose all their power in the process (especially Gwyn). For the sun, in Dark Souls 3, when the fire is really close to fading, you can see that the sun blackens and "bleed" flames, making it look like a Giant dark sign, so no... No 1st flame = no sun = dark wins. As for following the rules of our universe, there is multiple point where time and space are broken. Dark Souls 1 dlc is your character being dragged through time and in Dark Souls 3 the land itself is crunching around the 1st flame. So, at best, it (very) loosly follows the rules of our world during the Age of fire but starts breaking down when the flame fades.

I have a theory for solaire because he could still be the first son of gwyn because you do not find his armour on a body so maybe after his friend in dark souls one as we knew he was lonely so after you sacrifice yourself in ds1 he cast aside his armour and went to find the dragons. So he might of blamed the linking of the fire what is why the chosen undead comes to ring the bell in ds3 he tries to stop to let the world go dark indefinitely

That's the point you learn after DS1. Whether you chose fire or Dark, doesn't matter. If you link the fire it will fade again later. If you chose dark, there will always remain tiny little embers in the ashes, and eventually another one links the flame again starting the cycle anew. But the fact your choice didn't matter is excellent, for otherwise we wouldn't have two more games to enjoy!

It seems as though it deals with some great complexities of humanity. The gods represent our fear of the unknown and à being dealing with it's end even if that is the natural order of things and is actually good from a unbiased view. Also perhaps and this might be a reach but perhaps the abyssal made creatures are the other half of the undead?

And also Angra Mainyu develop into much more in Hollow Ataraxia because of the effect of Shirou's character. He remember that why he forgive every human being after becoming this hero/demon. Shirou is a character which try to become epiphamy of humanity. But we know that he will also failed in the end but the hope of it elevate every human being to try to become something more and create a better world. There is still no ingame evidence that the "life soul, death soul, light soul" thing is true. The only reasoning I've seen for it is that "dark" was on the list of things the old lady says came with disparity, and the word "dark" is in the phrase "dark soul." That's literally it. But there is no indication that any souls other than the dark soul follow different rules. Indeed, there is no reason to believe the nature of any other soul is different. This theory is pure fanwank.

So I'm curious where is everyone's favorite place in the dark souls series to hunt at like where are your safe places the places you use the most to collect souls and level up if you play blood bourne and sekiro same for those as well loved to know where every one feels safest your primary hunting grounds

In Bloodborne it depends on how far you are in the game. For early-mid game, the Lecture Building. As soon as you have access to the Forbidden Woods you also have access to it. It has one room filled with slime scholars, which drop a fair amount of blood echoes and quicksilver bullets. Late game I just use Mergo's middle loft, or preferably some depth 5 chalice dungeon. I usually don't farm levels in these games, I just level up once I have enough, and buy stuff with whatever is left. It works well enough.

This content is, as always, phenomenal. I got a bit sad that Dark Souls 2 was mainly ignored, though :( In my opinion, it contains the best lore of the 3 games and, besides PERFECTLY introducing the concept of cycles and of risen and fallen kingdoms, has A LOT of amazing insights. The crown of Vendrick wasn't even cited as a way to cure the curse for a single champion. Drangleic was not cited at all :(
