I always thought that the design of the cleric beast looked sort of like the Native American wendigo, and the "Blood & Bones" book has a sort of Native American feel to me. Also I think I read somewhere that Mayan tribes called the october full moon "sanguine" or blood moon. I don't remember what part of the world the Mayans inhabited, though... I think it was Southern North America, but I'm not sure. I might be late to find this video, but "Blood & Bones" sounds like a kickass game title. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a lil' hyped, haha!

I kind of want a bloodborne prequel where you play as a human during the age where the great ones are more present and the eldritch aesthetic is turned up and the Victorian aesthetic turned down. (and it's implied your of the first generation of the people who left dark souls for this world and lost a lot of their memories in the process). Or maybe I just want the great name I came up with "brineborne" to be used in something. 9:20 The Incas and the Aztecs actually lived around the same time. The Incan empire was on the western coast of south America. The Aztec Empire was in modern day Mexico. And the Incans are Andean, not Mesoamerican. I think you're mixing up the Incans and the Maya. The Maya were a civilization (not an empire), who predated the Aztecs and occupied some of the same areas.

bloodborne is in the genre of cosmic horror and I'm not sure if an aztec world would fit into that theme. Some time last year, forgot when exactly, I got a poll here on YouTube asking which game you’d like to get a sequel, and Bloodborne 2 was one of the four choices; however it was the 2nd or 3rd to receive the most votes so still holding out hope it comes to ps5🤞🏽

Being mexican myself, I have a soft spot for the Aztec culture (actually it should be called Mexica). I think it would suit a Bloodborne like game perfectly, because the Aztec mythology is great and also very bloody and in reality the Mexica waged war so they could capture warriors for the a ritual ceremony of sacrifice to the gods, ripping out the hearts of the defeated at the top of the temples/pyramids, the hearts of the warriors fed the gods, allowing them to maintain the cosmos. Also I really liked how in Ninja Gaiden (2004), Team Ninja seemingly incorporated Aztec motifs in some parts of the game, very sutil, yet very fitting.

You know I'm actually kinda happy that FromSoft has consistently made great games , and had enough success that they feel like they don't have to immediately reveal a bloodborne game. Like everyone knows that a bloodborne 2 would sell like hotcakes , and FromSoft and sony know that better than anyone else . But they've chosen to be deliberately vague, if not down right in denial of a bloodborne 2 anytime soon.

The unfinished tale probably just refers to the fact that hunters only go to dream when they die halfway through the night and therefore that night is an unfinished story and then when you’ve finished the night the story is over you don’t see her again

Maybe the next continuation of bloodborne could be based around seafaring communities in the tropics? Get some more delicious fish people action, some pirates maybe, a whole shanty town aesthetic but built up to such a huge degree it's like an absurd yharnam? And of course more bright and colorful great ones instead of the more Deep sea aesthetic of the first game. Might be too far away from the dingy dark aesthetic of the first game, but I still think its be fun, and I'd love to have a story focusing around more rebellious figures instead of royalty for once fromsoft

Oooh, maybe in place of the cool blue colors associated with the old ones and the "sea" creatures we could get tropical bright coloration associated with arcane, and maybe the great ones corruption in the nightmares could be big ol tropical reefs to go with the more sunny and bright theme of this solar great one? This could go a long way to differentiate from the sun and fire motifs already heavily explored with dark souls, and lean into the more lovecraftian elements, with an original visual twist

Now that dev-toolkit game Dreams has launched on PS4, my brain has been going wild with the possibility of making my own take on a Bloodborne sequel. I've got a couple of pages on Google Docs for design ideas already and I only came up with this idea yesterday. Gave this video another look to see what of these ideas I could incorporate into my own.

I know this is an old video so hello good traveler who sees this! This video speculates on Bloodborne 2 and it being able to be set in Mesoamerica. While this would be interesting and extremely fun to play, part of the charm of Bloodborne was the Gothic Victorian setting. I think (if From did another Bloodborne title) that it would be set in the past, but set in the same setting. With the old hunters as young and a church only holding onto the fringes it can grasp. It would expand on the lore but filling in gaps, but could also give us greater food for thought by expanding on Pthumerians and what happened in the deep past. Just some mindless ramblings, really, but I think it'd be interesting.

Aztec/Mayan technology would be nowhere near comparable with the hunter tools and weapons that have been made for us in Bloodborne through the Victorian era. It would be a much duller experience in a much less developed world than we experience in Yharnam.

I don't really agree with the idea of Bloodborne 2 being based on the Aztecs, I'm not opposed to From Software making an Aztec based game, but not as Bloodborne 2, it takes away a lot of what makes Bloodborne Bloodborne, in my mind it'd be like making Sekiro Dark Souls 4 instead of its own thing.

The Blood and Bones reminds me of Conan the Barbarian, which was partially part of the Cthulhu mythos since Lovecraft and Howard collaborated, hence would have relevance to the Lovecraftian elements of Bloodborne

What if it references colonialism like the people of yhanarm take to sea to try to escape but end up bringing the old blood to the mesoamerican people or they find that they have discovered their own blood rituals either way sounds awesome

I gotta say... first thing I thought of when the "Blood & Bones" description came up was "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure". The "Phantom Wail" title sounds suspiciously like the subtitle of Part I, "Phantom Blood", and the first two Parts have strong Mesoamerican ties. Glad to see I'm not alone. (Unrelated note: I hear "Loran" and keep wanting quiche. Go figure.) That said, you could go to Mesoamerica and still stick with the Victorian elements. Your player character could be part of an exploratory / archaeological expedition that finds itself tangled up in the fallout of another civilization's encounter with the Great Ones. Kind of risks falling into the "Great White Hero" trope, but that would be typical of Victorian adventure literature.

If we use basic logic from a staff standpoint at From Software. I have followed From Software's manpower in recent years. After Dark Souls expansion wrapped up From Software expanded and splitted up into two teams. One smaller team making Bloodborne with help from outsourcing companies. The larger team went to make Dark Souls II. After DSII they went straight on DSIII. They expanded for Elden Ring. Bloodborne team expanded and splitted up. The majority of the team worked on Sekiro Shadows die twice and a smaller team made Deracine. Once they finished up Deracine and Sekiro the team is freed up to make a new game which is where Bloodborne 2 for PS5 fits in.

I think Bloodborne sequels could do something similar to the Hellboy comics in it's approach to cosmic horror in different party of the world. In the comics Hellboy engages with many folk chatacters but always get's confronted with the coming of the seven serpents (can't remember the exact name of the thing) and the role he is supposed to play in it. So a Bloodborbe sequel could take place in a different culture that also had contact with elder beings and other strains of the old blood and delt with these things different from Yharnam.
