hmm i think the original music sounds more twisted eerie and atmospheric. the remake looks good i know they had to cut corners 4K assets take a lot more time to make even than making 1080 assets back in the day on old dev rigs did. its hard to please both crowds the classic filter looks great will most likely be playing on that when ps5 drop in price or possible pc release. till then i have bloodbourne to finish and sekiro to start as well as collecting to do on all 4 of the armor themed games which are my favorite ones.

I refer the original soundtrack for the Phalanx fight. "What do I do" is what plays through my head as the tune jingles on, it changes and morphs with the fight I feel.

The game looks absolutely stunning. Kinda makes me wanna order the ps5 just to play it, just as I bought ps3 just to play the original demon's souls. Although throughout the whole video I had 2 thoughts, namely: -The super long over the top backstab/repost animations might actually be a problem in the end. I liked the fact that they were more swift in the original, less "video-gamey" so to speak. These might start to drag after hours of gameplay. -The original soundtrack from the boss fight in the end is just better in my opinion. Has much more character, more dark, kinda detuned vibe to it, something that I loved in both original demon's souls as well as first dark souls osts. I'm not a big fan of making everything more "epic", especially that in the case of demon's souls, more toned down, darker soundtrack suits the oppressive atmosphere much, much better. In my opinion that is. Cheers!

I wonder how much of the "faithful to a fault" things were because Blue Point didn't want to risk unknown breakages somewhere else in the code. They've said they basically have the original game engine running parallel with their interface engine and the new rendering engine.

In regards to the music I feel the new version is not 'better' more that it allows us the full flavor of the music that was meant to be there. Like there was probably size limitations that stopped them from going full into it. Something that is no longer the case and was allowed to be put in. They're both a pleasure to listen to. Also 'Awwwww your animated closing animation is adorable! Did you commission that? Was it a gift? Its cute!'

I really don't dig the way they've approached the new music. The way Vaati talked abt it in other vids sounded like they rerecorded the old music with new arrangements and a bigger budget but that Phalanx music is a completely different piece. I really don't dig when stuff like that gets erased bc boss music is so important to the character of a Souls game and changing the music can change the entire mood of the fight. Hope the other musical choices are less egregious

sony should just buy bluepoint and have from co-develop a game with them , from designs the game, mechanics, lore, etc, and bluepoint makes the actual game's engine, art assets and code . win win

The hallmark with any good ARPG begins with good voice acting. NEVER has there been a good ARPG with cheesy voice acting - EVER. It's sets the "tone" literally Demon Souls has great voice acting if I may say so!

The facial animations are way too exaggerated, as are those critical animations. Also not a fan of the constant excessive vocalizations during combat and stuff. I'll stick with the original, might pick this remake up around 2024 or something when it's $20 and I nab a PS5 for less than $300, I dunno.

I have to say they improved the soundtrack. I've always found the Demon's Souls had the weakest soundtrack, while I feel that it was Bloodborne when they hit their stride consistently with amazing music Dark Souls 1 and 2 have good soundtracks with some true gems (Gwyn's theme comes to mind). The orginal Demon's Souls soundtrack just doesn't measure up to their later works, they fixed that.

I never understood the reason behind soul tendency but I guess it explains it right in the opening cutscene. The more you die the stronger the demons get.

When you collect the items like a normal person. Besides, in the original Demon's Souls, there were no item descriptions in the loading screens. There was just an image of one of the npc characters, like Ostrava, Patches, and Yurt. It was just a little bit better than the pre-patch Bloodborne loading screens.

About Phalanx's music, I think the original is quite a wink to beserk's song in my opinion, that's how I started to like this game. I'm really pissed I couldn't get a PS5, i'd have given you some really good photos from my experience :) Vaati, I really like they way your calm voice subtitles these games. Have a good time and I hope you'll be even more well known for your content ! I prefer the remake I think, it feels more like a soldiers march. I find it more fitting as opposed to the more ‘hero’s tale’ sort of feeling the original gives.
