wait a minute, the datamined armor set at 1:04 is Garl Vinlands armor. you can see the outline of the diamond on his helmet similar to Garl's. the helmet itself is pretty much the same. and his chest piece is very similar looking to garls armor in Demons Souls. in the comic Dark Souls The Age of Fire, Garl Vinland fights alongside Arkon. One thing that you don't mention is that it seems we're propelled into the future at the end of the dlc, right? Well - we're also propelled into the future in the base game. If you recall, once we talk with the firekeeper and we're ready to move forward, we appear in a version of firelink shring that's dilapidated and aged severely from whence we left it, and the same ruinous gatherings of buildings can be seen on our way to fight the lord of cinder. Now -- the timeline of the DLCs and the base game is intentionally kept vague by From Software as it helps keep some kind of cohesion between 'campaigns'. However, if you logically think about it, the base game's ending should happen last. That means our character was propelled into the future, they defeated Gael, obtained the dark soul (pigment), used the bonfire to travel back in time to the end of the Lothric era, gave the pigment to the painter, then travelled back .... to the future(!!!) at the end of the world and once again linked the fire or maintained the era of dark. (Either way the flame was just going to pop up again somewhere). Our character effectively just maintains the status quo from the point that the entire Dark Souls world has been destroyed. It's a new beginning -- if there is anybody left on the world to actually get beginnin'. Meanwhile, our narrative has completely left the painter's storyline. She would have created a new world, with the pigment of man, and thus a whole new 'universe' of her own accord. We left her in the past, yet our character has traveled far into the future afterward. Think of the painting. Whereever it is, contained in whatever ruin, still with a world within made of man's will. (or rather, that of a crossbreed) Dark Souls 4 could play to either beginning - the same routine of linking the fire or letting it go dark in our world of forgotten ash, or the world in the painting. I personally would go with the world in the painting, as that is where a significantly better writing team could one day take over and..... well, you never know. Perhaps we'll see in Elden Ring.

man, the lore in these two dlcs really gets convoluted. i really liked the ringed city, pretty challenging dlc, awesome final boss and i particularily liked all the corrupted, grim and sinister vibe it gives, don't know if you understood what i mean, i really don't know how to say it. i constantly felt creeped out while playing it, like i was seeing something very disturbing. loved every second of it

When I first appeared in the desert at the end of time, I got me some "SGA: The Last Man" tingles. Tell me if this sounds familiar: Due to some unforseen time travel, our main character finds himself in the city he left, but now far into the future. The city is pretty much abandoned, and its once tall architecture is now mostly buried beneath a desert that formed over all the time he was gone.

This ring finger Leonard guy and this "only one to be embraced by the Abyss" I think this is saying that Leonard is Chester from Dark Souls 1. He was literally grabbed by Manus, the Father of the Abyss which can definitely be seen as "embracing". During this time, he was also separated from everyone else, which is what they deemed as Leonard being "embraced" when he was actually more like snatched. It could be that Manus, the Father of the Abyss detected something on him (perhaps his overabundance of humanity, seeing as he chose to stay a human forever) and grabbed him through space and time. This also explains why Chester does not easily part with humanity in Dark Souls 1. Please, if you can look into this... you know this stuff much better than I do, but it struck me as interesting...
